You can stub the pex out of the wall and then use the above sleeve. This eliminates all joints between the supply and the stop valve and you don't see the pex.

pex toilet and faucet hook up


If he uses the stub out I suggested there will not be any floppy Pex sticking out of the wall to deal with.
That's a pet peeve of mine when I see where someone cheaped out and just has the Pex sticking out of the wall. It looks cheap and makes it harder to change the valve when it fails.
