Replaced galvanized supply lines throughout home with new PEX. PEX is not run in a manifold setup but more of a trunk and branch setup. There will be on-demand recirculation pumps on the 3/4" hot water loops at the water heater (not under sink). I planned on sliding on 1/2" thick foam rubber type insulation as I cut in the branches off the trunk lines. However, it was brought up to me that the pipes will all run through "conditioned space" as there are heat registers in all the rooms of the basement that it runs through, so shouldn't need to be insulated. How do I justify adding or not adding the pipe insulation to the piping?
