Pex Question

I didn't realize how hard it was to find the manifolds at a b&m store in my area.

I purchased a copper manifold with 4 1/2" barbs. Is there more than one way to connect the pex to the barbs? or do you just use the crimping method? I searched google forever but could not find any answers. I also saw some swivel adapters but didn't know if they could be used for connecting to the manifold. I was just worried that if you clamped something wrong it would mess the barb up and wouldn't be reusable.

With the barbs you can use either the crimp rings or the clamp connectors. I don't have any experience with the crimp rings, other than seeing that they had a separate tool for removing the rings.

As for the clamp connectors, if you're careful you can cut through the raised bump without touching the pex. If the connector was fully clamped down, you may have to encourage the pex to get off (cutting it off in the worst case). With brass fittings, you can normally recover the fitting without damaging the barbs. I'm not sure how well plastic would hold up. Finally, all my experience came from situations where I made a mistake in the initial clamping. I'm not sure if use may make things more difficult.
