Unless your into rusty water and leaking fittings skip any galvinized pipes of any kind, anyplace.
Use copper to the shower head and the tub.
It's been suggest that the ID of Pex is smaller so it may restict the flow to the shower head. I used it and had no issue with it. They even make a drop leg elbow that 1/2" FPT to pex.

So copper from valve, to diverter, from diverter to rain-head and hand held?
Supplies to valve? Straight Pex runs?
The valve requires 3/4 and 3/4 hot and cold so I vae to increase the hot side from where it feeds.
