Pex

Does anyone know if Pex solved the problem with their brass fittings? I read about the class action lawsuit. The reason for asking is that I have an entire house to do and was going to use pex with the crimp fittings.
Thanks.

There's nothing wrong with modern PEX fittings. Install it with confidence.

Pex is a generic name for a type of pipe. It is made by many different companies.

The fittings are also made by many different companies. The company that is being sued is Zurn who has recalled all the bad fittings and since there have not been any problems.

I use pex in all kinds of situations and have never had any problems.

There is one issue few know about. The pex crimp fitting are not rated for burial. If you need to bury them use Sharkbites. They are rated for burial.

So what time frame is Pex considered modern? Within the last two or so years? I installed a few lines in my house with PEX and I'm pretty sure Zurn fittings, although I'm not sure now... have to check. I haven't had any problems with it... yet. *knocks on wood*

I heard about the lawsuits but not the recalls. Do you think I'm safe?

It was the process on how the fittings were made. Out of the hundreds of millions that were made they had a batch that was substandard. It was a very small percentage. Don't worry about it.
