Pedestal sink install tips wanted

Hi, I am getting ready to install a Kohler pedestal sink and would like any tips anyone may have that would help prevent from cracking the base or sink when I bolt them down. I am setting the base on a tile floor and the sink will be going up against a tile wall as well. Thanks for the help.

Here's some tips to start with-
I know it sounds obvious but- read the install instructions thoroughly.
Some models come with a good set- others not so good.

You need to have backing in the wall for a good, smooth installation too.
Although it's not required, a good tight grouping of the rough in pipes helps- you don't have a lot of room- and mount the faucet and drain before you hang the sink.

The sink will pretty much support itself when the wall bracket is installed at the right height- so give it's location special attention. The bracket will have slotted anchor holes to allow you to make a final adjustment.

One tip I learned the hard way- be sure all the anchor holes in the porcelain are free of any casting slag. If not, your screw or lag will grab the slag and break the ear of the basin- not good

Don't over tighten the base or basin to the floor or wall. Just run the screws in until they barely touch.

There's some starters. I'm sure more input will follow...

"You need to have backing in the wall for a good, smooth installation too."
To me that's the most important tip.
Everyone I've seen falling off a wall was because there was nothing behind the wall to attach it to. They counted on just the tile and sheetrock to hold it in place, which is just not going to work.

The install starts way before the install. The wall needs to be opened up, blocking installed, and the visible plumbing made to be in the correct location to be mostly hidden by the pedestal. And change it over to the pretty chrome or ORB or whatever fou fou look you want. But, if you haven't opened up that wall, you're not ready to install anything.
