Patching into existing drain with washing machine

My washing machine is in my basement directly under my kitchen sink. Currently I drain it into a wash tub that empties into to a recessed floor drain.

The drain leading to the kitchen sink above is exposed in the basement and runs right past the washer. Can I patch into this line with a 'Y' and a trap and drain the washer that way?

I know code requires one trap per fixture. I think I'm safe but I want to make sure this is OK. Can I do this? (see picture)

should work.

use a 2" pipe through the trap then increase it to whatever your drain is then use this for the tie in at the drain

its a T wye with a street 45 to give you a long turn T 90 ( hard to find in one piece ) for a better flow.

One thing to watch (check your local codes):

P2706.2 Standpipes for automatic clothes washers shall extend a minimum of 30 inches (762 mm) and a maximum of 48 inches (1219 mm) above the finished floor. Access shall be provided to all standpipe traps and drains for rodding.

Absolutely correct. The washer drain should be plumbed independently. The proposed installation will not drain fast enough when the machine empties.

Hum... pulled up the current IRC, and the 12" requirement is not there, the current requirement is:

"
Standpipes shall extend a minimum of 18 inches (457 mm) and a maximum of 42 inches (1067 mm) above the trap weir. Access shall be provided to all standpipe traps and drains for rodding."

So ignore that portion of my post above.
