Overflow drain cover for bathtub


Hi,

The stainless steel overflow cover plate on one of my bathtubs fell off a few days ago. It was held in place by a single screw right at the center of the cover. The screw was heavily rusted and the plastic protrusion on the PVC that it was going into seems to have broken off (see pic below).

There is no plunger going into the overflow drain. Are there any easy fixes for this that don't involve replacing the PVC?
