old house plumbing problems

i have a 70 year old house.. and the water line coming from the street has a shut off vavle and after that is the water meter and after that it looks like a vavle thats bell shaped with a relief nut on top and on the side is a hold that was not there before and water is leaking out of that hole .... so last night i put epoxy patchwith fiber glass patch and now it trickling .... can i post a pic of it on this site ? does anyone know what this might be what the name of what i think is a valve ?

Sounds to me that it is a PRV Pressure Reducing Valve or most commonly called a regulator.

The hole you tried to plug is a weep hole so when it goes bad you know it.

DO you have a pressure gauge close to this PRV?
