Oil tank (275) removal.
 

is it safe to leave an old oil tank in the basement until it can be removed which was pumped out? Is it a dangerous situation?

if it was pumped out and caped off I don't see a problem leaving it till you can have it removed.. ben

I am so upset with the plumber who did work on my home...he replaced my boiler, and removed all of the copper from the old furnace without asking me.. is that legal?

The same plumber just left the mess in my basement with replacement and removal of a 275 gallon oil tank.

He also quoted me one price an gave me a fraudulent bill with all these x-tray hours and i can prove it! He charged me for 9.5 hours, when infact it was only barely 5 hours and didn't list the materials by cost just one big pile with the monetary pricing...how do i file a complaint against him! He also misappropriated funds i paid him and cashed the checks with the notations as to where these monies should be applied! This was for replacement of a seal which cracked where the sink, toilet and tub upstairs drains. I was here when he came and marked the times. He, also, kept leaving to get part he had forgotten (5 times).. should i be charged for his errors and omissions!

sorry to hear of your problem....however we here can only try to help you with general repair and replacement problems and ideas, while you may have a reason to be upset with your contractor I cannot say one way or the other because there are 2-sides to every story....but Iwould say read your contract if it was not fulfilled you can call him back and discuss it in detail.

yes so do I understand can't believe what i hear from people on this site been in business for 30 yrs would never do those things...and yes we have made mistakes but we take responability for them and make them right again sorry that you had to experience that...ben

The contract is the only thing you have to go by word of mouth is no good.

Did your contract read he removes the old heater and debris, remove the oil tank, homeowner gets the removed material, did he have any body with him that would double the hours, you should have had a bottom line quote to do the work not a time a material contract. In the future never pay in full just give an agreed deposit and hold payment until all parties are satisfied.

The money is the only leverage you have once paid in full all bets are off.

As for the tank, if you end up being the one to remove it, I have moved several of them in and out of basements, using a sling and two men at each end. The legs are just short lengths of pipes threaded to flanges, so can be easily removed to pick up vertical space.
