Question

Obsolete Single Lever Shower Faucet

I have an American Standard Ceramix SLSF w/diverter (Mod.# 2000.400/402 w/an R-120 valve)) that I am looking to replace. Unfortunately today's models do not have the diverter assembly as part of the valve housing just above the valve as this one does. Rather than replace the entire housing I thought that I could remove the diverter assembly which I am hoping is screwed into the housing and put a brass threaded plug in that hole. Then buy a new tub spout with a diverter in the spout. I am assuming that when I turn the water on the gravity flow of water would send the water to the spout & not the shower head and that would be it. But if that is not the case I would also add a shower head diverter as well to control where the water comes out by controling each end.

Lastly, before doing all this does anyone know of a replacement trim that would replace the trim that I have. I contacted American Standard and they were no help at all.

Thanks

Why are you trying to salvage such an old obsolete mixer?

Is there something special about it that makes it worth keeping?

I try not to think about it!

But if I continue to work for nothing and pass that savings on to the customer then everything will be fine. Won't have any food but the customers will be happy.

Moen still makes a tub and shower valve with the diverter in the valve.
