How long does it take to replace the gas control valve on an AO Smith Power Vent Water heater?

Mostly... it will depend on whether the tank drain valve boogers up or not.
Without that hiccup (more and more common with the crapola plastic valves that should be replaced at install)... not long at all.

See that threaded part on the back side? That's it.
(Change out the thermocouple at the same time)

Get the new one prepped to go in. (tape, dope, etc). unscrew the old one and spin the new one in fast. Don't even have to drain the tank. Very little water will come out due to very little air getting in. I do it this way all the time. Seems like more now than in the past.
