Noob: How Does Shower/Tub Plumbing Work?

I've been wondering about this and couldn't find a resource on the internet. Are the water lines to the shower/tub faucet recirculating? I mean is there supply line and return line to the faucet that keeps the water flowing and fresh or is it just under pressure stagnate to the faucet?

This question comes from an argument I have with a friend, 'cause I always drop the tub plug so the water drains out of the line between the tub faucet and the shower head after a shower, so that water doesn't stay in there and stagnate, but if the water is relatively stagnate before the valve for the tub then that's really pointless, right?

Hope this makes sense and is answerable...

If your using a shower daily or nearly so..the water will not stagnate.
The water to the shower valve is under pressure and is not recirculating UNLESS they or some one else installed a re-circulating system.
The only lines coming to the shower are supply 1 hot and 1 cold.

As for dropping the plug...I do it just because I don't like to have the water drip all day while the it's draining from the head.....by the way...that's all the water you're letting out....it has nothing to do with stagnate water....

I hope the pizza and beer were worth it....can ya share?

I do it because I hate that cold burst of water on me at the start.

I think the wife may leave it up on purpose when she is upset with me. Not that it happens very often.
