Noisy water pipes

hi there - i really hope someone can help me because i'm absolutely at the end of my tether!!!
our next door neighbours have just had a new kitchen installed - since this has been done, the noise from their kitchen taps, downstairs loo and especially the washing machine is coming into our house and it sounds like an aeroplane landing.
It looks like the noise of the water going down their pipes is so loud now that it is actually vibrating OUR water pipes (apparently it isnt water hammer, just the loudness of their water moving in their pipes). Our house is taller than theirs and they obviously have their cold water tank in their loft which unfortunately is on the same level as our bedroom. We have water pipes in that room and its these which the noise is coming down. Our pipes are boxed and I wondered if this was making the noise worse. Would stuffing these boxes with insulation help with the noise?:(

Sounds like you have the right idea boxing and insulating will help isolate the noise from you environment.
