No hot water or coming out of the guest bathroom tub.


No hot water or pressure coming out of the guest bathroom tub.


My house was built in Dec. 2007, so fairly new...I live alone, so I never use the guest bathtub. I have had guests use it maybe 4-5 times ever. When I had guests the other day & they went to use it there was no pressure or hot water. I turned the lever all the way over to the hot side and no water came out at all...if you turn it about 3/4 of the way over it's just cold water and hardly any pressure. Any idea what is wrong?

Particles can get into water lines and clog valves which have small openings.

So perhaps a particle, small piece of plastic, or whatever was in the hot water line, then when the hot turned on for that valve, it tried to get out, but instead clogged the small opening.

You can "backflush" to fix that...

Turn off the hot water at the water heater.

At a nearby bathroom sink, disconnect the hot water line and run a line from the valve in the wall into a bucket.

Then turn on the hot and cold at the same time on the shower (middle position). Place your hand over the spout.

Then cold water will flow into that valve, then out the hot water side along with that particle. And will flow through the hot water line to that open hot water line under the sink and into the bucket!

OK - I will have to see if I can try that myself! I have no experience w/ stuff like this, however, your reply seems self explanatory...so let's cross our fingers I don't flub it up! haha Thanks - Melanie
