If water was drained from the water heater/boiler and it was electric, the elements might be fried; won't make cold water hot then (no one needs a hot water heater, right?).

I think he meant tempature adjusting valve meaning the shower valve,,,anti scald guard,,what ever you wanna call that today.
Think he has gunk in cartridges!! Last edited by 4just1don; 02-15-2009 at 01:41 AM. |

don, that was my first thought too, but not gunked, just not set to right temp. too low and it won't allow hot at all...
bob22, if one of the elements was fried (bottom?), it'd have more than a few seconds hot water. tps=temp/pressure...supply? supressor? DM

It could be the dip tube in the water heater. If the dip tube breaks off the cold water will enter at the top of the water heater instead of the bottom and quickly enter the hot water supply line...If this is the problem it is a fairly quick and easy fix.. It could also be your temperature limiter in the shower valve. Not knowing the manufacturer or type of valve limits any comments to this issue.
