Newbie in a bind
Greetings All,
I am new to the forum and an hoping I can get some help. I am in the middle of changing out my Delta 1400 Series cartridge in my shower and for the life of me I cannot remove the brass bonnet (nut) holding the cartridge in. A friend implied that it may have welded itself on over the years and I may have to purchase an entire valve body and rip half the tiles off to replace. Any tricks on getting this bonnet off. I have tried channels, pipe wrenches, penetrant and even a little heat. Exaspirated! |
Try more heat, and if that doesnt work use a mini hacksaw to cut the bonnet off.

Got a picture?

Or, do you mean just cut the collar of the bonnet? |

I like the trick of using emmery cloth as a friction device... |
Many thanks for your replies.
I have gone to HD and purchased a new valve body and will call a pro in to rough it in. Not looking forward to ripping the tiles and backboard off however this puppy is simply not budging and I fear I will rip the whole assembly out of the wall. |
