Okay the first pic is the knob i took off. That screw in the middle is the issue. When i loosened the screw and tried to put it all back together i quickly found out that half of that screw is sitting back in the sleeve....i have no knob for my shower/tub (using needle nose to improvise) i just dont want to have to take apart any plumbing to repair this. Help, please, thanks...

Your best bet is to replace the cartridge.

How much would a plumber charge to do this?? I know this is a DIY site but, man...that piping is fragile as hell and im afraid im going to wreck it up. I can't even find a serial # or model # for that cartridge replacement.

Replacing the cartridge is easy. That little tab sticking up out of the brass tube is the clip that holds the cart in place pull straight up on it to remove the horseshoe shape clip. Once that is done grip the cartridge with some pliers and pull straight out. Slide the new one back in and replace the clip.

Noen designed a great cartridge that never realy needed updating so it is universaly used on a lot o their products. In fact that model of cartridge is the same one that Moen used back when they invented water. Check with any big box store or plumbing supply house or a replacement.

What makes you think your pipes are fragile? Coper is tougher than you think.

You need a moen 1200 replacement cartridge.Any plumbing supply house will have one.

Having a hard time busting that tab out of the cartridge. Using a needle nose to wiggle it out of there...sprayed some wd 40, still wont budge. I dont want to get to crazy because im fearful that i will break it off or snap it in half, then what....?
