New W Meter Hook Up Question

Hi - I am having a new water meter installed and I want to have all parts on hand for good installation. Water guy said it will have a 3pc union with 1" Female NPT threads. I plan to get a 1" NPT x 1" PEX brass fitting. QUESTION: Do you use any thrd sealant? (Pipe dope, Teflon Tape) OR High qulity neoprene washer? OR just tighten the crap out of it with nothing?

ALSO - what is best or a good way to locate a shutoff when you have a crawl space house? I think I will dig it under the foundation and bring it up into a 2x4 wall cavity and put a little access panel over it with a note. "Water Shutoff". I plan to use a 1"x1" Pex ball valve.

How would you do it? Thanks anyone.

New W Meter Hook Up Question

Most towns require that a licensed plumber make the tap onto the main. He will have all the parts he needs and how to make the tap.

New W Meter Hook Up Question

Use teflon or pipe dope on the threads that connect to the pipe (npt). The union itself joins together with bevels so there is no need for sealents. If you use teflon tape be sure to wrap it in the direction so it doesn't unravel when screwing it in.
