New vanity sink plumbing doesnt line up

I am fixing my parents bathroom and just put in the new sink only to find that the drain is about 1.25" behind the j-trap. There is also no gap between them height wise so the idea of putting a flexi piece in there doesnt work out so well. Wondering what suggestions people have in this case.

Here is a picture to explain it better.

It looks like you could discard the 45 degree ABS fitting on the wall stub and gain enough room for the P-trap.

Also, the tailpiece (gray vertical pipe w/pop-up connected to drain) can be cut off to a length that is more convenient for your P-trap connection.

Upon looking more closely at your picture I noticed that the tailpiece is actually too short. You may need to buy a longer tailpiece or add a short piece with a coupling.

Thanks for responding so fast. So your thinking if I remove the abs piece I could just add a longer arm from the wall to the trap and twist it left to meet the tailpiece?

I don't think you'll need a longer trap arm after removing the ABS angle, just come straight out to the tailpiece and offset however much you need to using the P-trap.
