New sink basin over existing plumbimg

Installing new sink cabinet. The existing plumbing in wall consists of drain and hot and cold water supplies with the shutoff valves. Do I have to remove the shutoff valves to make smaller holes in rear of cabinet, or just cut the larger holes?

Depends on if you want small holes or larger holes in the back of your cabinet.

either way, the water flowing thru the pipes does not care.
