New sewer line, damp ground

A few weeks ago I had a new sewer line put in to connect me to the county sewer (Before I had a septic tank/drain field). I recently noticed that the dirt (no grass yet) exact area where the line was trenched is moist (not wet) whereas the surrounding ground is bone dry (no rain in over a month.

Is this something that I need to be concerned about?

How close is the water supply line near this area?

You shouldn't have any "moist" ground near a new line a few weeks after it has been installed. I would call the plumber back out for them to correct any leaking (for free).
