New Kitchen Sink Drain

Before I had my kitchen renovated, my main drain pipe center was 14.5" from the bottom of the cabinet and my garborator output center was 14.5" from the bottom of the cabinet. So there was no problem as the pipes were at the same level.

However.

Now that my sink was replaced with a 'designer' sink, it is 4" lower than the original. That means that my garborator output is 4" lower than my drain pipe. ( which is brass and goes into the wall).

What can I do. How am I supposed to make the water go from the garborator p-trap and travel upwards 4" to the main drain without it coming back up into the garborator.

New Kitchen Sink Drain

You need to lower the drain inside the wall
or remove the disposal
or get a shallower sink

New Kitchen Sink Drain

Sometimes I have to abandon the existing drain pipe that is in the wall, and drill a hole through the bottom of the cabinet and run a new drain line. You have to have a crawlspace or basement, and studor vents have to be allowed where you are. You also need to cap off your roof vent and old drain stub out if you can do it like that.

That's what I was afraid of. So I removed the garborator. A shame. But it was the cheapest alternative. Thanks again
