new install shut off valve leaking

Installed 3 new shut off valves solder not compression(required by code). Had no leaks when we turned water on. We opened valves and cleared lines and then reclosed valves, now one is leaking at the handle. Anything we can do besides cutting off and replacing? Thanks

new install shut off valve leaking

If valve was sweated on 'as is', it is possible that gaskets were damaged by heat. When I sweat a gate or globe valves, I disassemble them, and work with just the brass body, and reassemble once it cooled down. Ball valves, I open and wrap a wet rag over them.

I tightening the nut does not work (gaskets damaged), you might need to get a new same exact valve, disassemble, and swap the innards.
