new furnace - now less hot water?

we had a new furnace installed last week and they adjusted something having to do with our vent from the top of our hot water heater and now it seems that we have alot less hot water - always having to turn the shower handle further and further to get hot water - when previous we thought it was too hot and barely turned it to the hot side.
it's a new faucet assembly in the shower we had plumbed last spring.

any suggestions? our heater is already one notch from the hottest setting

How is the hot water elsewhere in the house, say, at the kitchen sink? (You will need to run it for several minutes to mimic the usage of taking a shower.)

Adjusting the vent at the top of the water heater won't change the hot water although jostling an old tank might change the position of internal parts such as make the dip tube break off. (This latter condition will cause cold water to mix with hot water near the hot water outlet pipe.)

States can help recovery from hurricanes and tornadoes by not requiring due digence or prompt and timely correction of substandard conditions, and by providing continued liability insurance where companies drop homeowners.

no temp reading - it's one notch from the hottest - in the past few days it seems fine
