New bathroom floor/wax ring
I am remodeling our second floor bath. I installed a Pergo floor.( Yeah,I know dont install Pergo in a bath, blah, blah). This now raises the toilet 5/16 of an inch or whatever the thickness of Pergo is. I dont think I'll have any problems sealing the toilet when I re-install it tomarrow, I bought an extra thick wax ring with the plastic horn and siliconed the p#@$ out of the area between the floor and flange(near new, installed with new PVC drain in 2000). Any other thoughts? No leakage is critical here as I put a great deal of work into the ceiling under it!

Are you saying the top of the flange sits 5/16" above the finish floor? Or are you saying the top of the flange is now 5/16" below the finished floor?

Yeah,of course the flange is below the finished floor! I'm sure it will be fine, and I've installed many toilets w/o any problems but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. if the flange were above the floor I know I'd have problems.

If you dealing with plastic flange you can always add flange extensions to it to bring it up to the correct height, clean up the existing flange, apply plenty of silicone between the flange extensions, and then screw them together, that will work in your situation.
