New bathroom fixture won't fit!

I recently bought a new faucet fixture for my bathroom. After removing the old fixture (which had 2 copper tubes attaching to the water supply) I tried to put the new fixture on. It has 2 1/2" pipes which are supposed to fit into the holes already drilled. But it won't fit! The holes are just a little too far apart. I guess with the copper tubing on the old fixture it didn't matter, but the new pipes have to fit into those holes exactly, and they are just a hair off. I thought about drilling the holes slightly larger, but with this fake marble stuff, I don't know if I can. Any ideas?

New bathroom fixture won't fit!

Can you post a pix with the faucet laying down next to the holes so we can see whats going on?
Maybe using a tape line take pix of the old faucet, new faucet and the holes in sink using tapeline as a guage.

Take a 1/2 round file and enlarge the hole/s till it fits.

New bathroom fixture won't fit!

Thanks guys, I tried chipping it away first, then borrowed a friend's dremel tool and enlarged it enough to get the pipes through. I'm hoping the second one in that bathroom is the right size!
