Question

New bathroom drain pipe leaks

Hi
I am in the middle of bathroom renovations and I am installing a clawfoot tub. I am using the existing floor drain. The challenge is connecting the tub drain to the existing floor drain because there is very little clearance. I think I have the correct piping. The floor drain is PVC no problem there. The drain coming of the old clawfoot is brass not problem there. In between the floor and the tub is a combination of PVC and Chrome. The pipe coming out of the tub is chome no leak from that joint. This chrome pipe is connected to a chrome angle fitting the type that is sealled with a rubber gasket. On the other side of the fitting a chrome pipe conntects to a PVC pipe. The chrome pipe is leaking on both sides of the chrome fitting. Should I be using and additional sealer? Please advise.

New bathroom drain pipe leaks

Any chance you could post a picture of the pipe configuration? It sounds like a mess! There shouldn't be any sealer, except on threaded connections, which it doesn't sound like you have.

New bathroom drain pipe leaks

HI

I don't have a picture with me but the chrome pipe is threaded into the copper pipe of the tub. The other end of the chrome pipe slips into the chrome fitting - a right angle - with a rubber gasket on either end. I hope this give you a better idea of what it looks like. The right angle fitting is what is leaking.
