Need shower pipe to point up
I have a 1 and 1/2 story. The upstairs bathroom shower head comes out of the wall at about 5 feet, which isnt high enough for most people over 5 feet. Even with a 12 inch adjustable extension its not quite where I want it. So, I found a waterpik shower head that comes with an 18" semi-curved extension and I want to install that. The other thing that would also help is to have the curved pipe that comes out of the wall point up, rather than down. Can I just put a rubber washer in there to change the point at which the thread stops so it points up? Or is there a better way?
take the pipe out, put 3 or 4 rounds of teflon tape on the threads and tighten it back (just good and snug) where it's pointing upwards. If it leaks, (it probably won't) go another round. Depending on how tight it is now, you may be able to just get a half turn without taking it out, but don't break it off. No fun gett'n out a broken one.
