Need pump setup help

Ive bought a liberty water pump for my darkroom sink. Im trying to set it up and I have a question. Where the pvc goes into the pump it reads 1 1/2" inlet. SO I tried to put a 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe in the hole and it is too big. Am I missing something? What do I need? Any advice appreciated. I have a check valve that I bought and also have it vented properly, now I just need advice on how to atatch the inlet and outlet PVC.

This is a pic of the pump that another photographer sent me of his set up to help with my setting it up.

I could be wrong, but i believe DWV PVC and water PVC are different diameters. . . .

Is the hole threaded? if it is double check the fitting size. It should be marded on it.

DWV and Pressure pipe are the same OD (outer diameter). "Tubular" pipe, such as slip joint traps and tail pieces are made of, is a different diameter. But if the inlet is threaded, you will need an 1 1/2" male adapter to screw in and it will be a little smaller than the pipe itself, due to the threads being cut (actually molded with most plastic) into the pipe. Liberty's website shows an 1 1/2" model and a 2" model but nothing smaller.

The picture looks like 1 1/2". It also shows both an "S-trap" and a double trap, neither of which are legal or necessary. The trap at the bottom is all you need.
