Now as far as an inline filter is concerned, is there a great deal of difference between a unit down at the big box store vs one from Ohio pure water above? Thinking in terms of being able to run out and buy a filter versus having to order one online, Im just wondering how much difference there really is.
So the tentative plan will be as follows: Buy a replacement pump (same as what I have), a 2cf softening unit, (from the link above the 2cf unit is the Fleck 7000sxt 64000grain unit correct?) and an inline filter unit so I only have to take the water down once. Next, the plan would be to build the "manifold" completely before cutting into what I have there, cap the ends, and press it up with my air compressor to make sure its all tight, that way I can install it with 99% of the joints proven.
Alright so the line that comes in lower left is off the discharge of the pump right out of frame. you can see the line drops to the press tank, then up to the filter (which lacks the support I need to open it without risking cracking a joint...then it comes across to the hot water heater. the first line off is domestic cold water, the second is the boiler feed line.
Theres not really enough room to get the softener in that little space, so the plan would be to spin the pump 180 degrees, put the tank back in the corner, and free up some space for the softener there.
