Need a Hole in my copper sink...HELP

I am installing a new counter-top and we have purchased a 14 gauge copper sink. This sink will not be under-hung but will just be top mounted. There are no holes in the sink for a faucet and there needs to be one since there is not enough room on the counter top to mount the faucet behind the sink. First question is are there any suggestions on where I might be able to get a hole punched in the metal or drilled. Second question is if I have to do it myself then what is the standard size hole for a single hole sink and what do you think I should use to drill the hole. Gonna be a huge bit if I have to drill it.

No one knows what faucet you have so no way to know what size hole you need. Just going to have to measure what you have.
Most often you just use a hole saw.

This is the only tool I would use to make those holes. You don't want to damage your sink. I have a set of hole punches made by Greenlee. They make a nice clean hole in any metal surface and are very simple to use. Electricians use them to make extra holes in panels. you should be able to rent a set at any fair sized tool rental store.

Here is the sink, 14 gauge copper and the faucet is a Delta faucet. I would assume that most sinks that have holes already drilled are just a standard size. We are not planning on using the soap dispenser and this faucet is good for a one hole set up.

i also agree with alan but if you want to know
most sinks have 1 3/8 hole size
i agree with a hole punch being the best
2nd would be a step bit
3rd a whole saw but be careful they wobble when cutting metal and make a not so perfect hole

In the mounting instructions it has both under and top mount directions. We are going with 180 FX so have to top mount it.

The knock out tool The Hammer pictured above is what I use on stainless steel sinks. Should work great on yours- 1 3/8" hole

Does it have a rail underneath for mounting clips?

Sure you can mount an undermount on top of the countertop, but it isn't designed to be installed that way and usually looks like poopie cakes.

yep most sinks have 1 3/8 opening...but I would measure the base of faucet and the space you have on sink rim....1 3/8 may be alittle to big for sink..so see what is the smallest hole for faucet...ben sr

1 3/8 will easily fit. It's a 2 in rim all the way around and I plan on bringing it it a bit between the bowls. should be no problem. Now I just need to find someone with a knockout hole punch cause the local big box store wants 258 for a kit and don't have individuals. Already sent email to some plumbers so we will see what we see. Thanks to everyone for all the help.

Poopie cakes it is then.....the wife wanted "this" copper sink and I told her that it should be undermounted but we can't afford stone so she got the idea somewhere to top mount so that is what's gonna happen. It's her kitchen and as long as mommas happy I'm happy. I do appreciate all the help though. Thanks

Not gonna work this is clearly an under-mount sink, has absolutely no rim support or clip tracks to act as a top mount, and if you cut 2 holes into it youll just weaken it more. the minute you start putting weight on it the tips will pop up and start to buckle. looks like a very nice sink don't kill it.
