Need help with an odd fitting for a refrigerator water line.

So I need some help with a rookie problem. My house was built in 2005 by KB. I have gone to the big box retailers and they cannot help me. I have attached a pic of the water line valve to connect to my refrigerator. It looks like a 3/8" but I can only turn the line adapter a half a turn and then it stops as if the threads do not match. Here are some things I know for sure: It is not a 1/2", it is not a 1/4". The big box retailers tell me there are typically only these 3 in newer home tracks.

Please give me some simple advice... this is a year long saga I would like to put to rest.

you may have to change the valve to a regular one.

I could consider this, but must believe that there is some sort of adapter size or threading option that I'm missing... They couldn't have built this in with no way to connect a refrigerator (could they?).
