Question

need help on bathroom pipes


My son installed what we were told at home depot shark bites on our bathroom shower pipes, but he is needing to take them off to put in longer pipe can this be done and how

yes very easily. Send your son back to Home Depot to pick up the little plastic tool needed to remove these fittings. Same plumbing department not the tool department. You press this against the slip ring on the fitting and it will release. The shark bite fitting can then be used again on the longer pipe.

As Bob said it is very easy to remove the fitting with the proper removal tool. You didn't say it the pipe is copper or PEX. It is copper and if your son didn't bevel/debur and clean the original pipe, you might want to replace the original shark-bite fittings as well. Shark-bites have an internal O-ring that can be nicked or cut very easily on a cut piece of copper.
