Need advise on "DIY" PCV Pipe project

I am making a Camera "dolly" and using 3/4 PVC pipe. I have used 3/4 slip stops for the wheel mounts; but it isn't a real sturdy connection, and very difficult to screw in the bolts (5/16 20) (See images below) anyone have ideas that may give me a better way of connecting the wheels with same size bolts? I'm wondering if I just need a smaller pair of plyers. What about metal connectors? Are there connectors that screw into PCV pipes? Kinda of a plumbing novice, I work on things as they break! Love using the pipe for other projects though!

Instead of short bolts, why not use a piece of allthread that goes from wheel to wheel as an axle does

Hmm, not a bad idea. I guess I would have to cut it myself, and ensure a clean cut. I may give that a try.
