It looks like there's some sort of runoff pipe there facing upwards at the top, it's got some gross looking stuff in it, but no smell. Some sort of drainage? It isn't septic related (as far as i know?) the house is from 1958. Last edited by elementx440; 04-09-2007 at 07:51 PM.

Looks like a basement floor drain that somebody cemented a piece of terra cotta chimney liner over for some reason. Maybe it was draining slow and the chimney liner was supposed to give it more time to drain when it backed up...
