Is there a garbage disposal attached? If so, crud can build up inside and cause a smell. They make GD cleaners; no idea if they work.
If no GD, then you may have a vent problem causing your trap to empty.

musty smell from kitchen drain

I had this recently. It was so bad that I didn't want to cook. I tried all sorts of household cleaners and those designed specifically for disposals and nothing worked for longer than an hour or so. I'm sure it was the garbage disposal. My plumber said to clean it by putting lots of ice cubes in it. I guess that works if you do it regularly. It didn't work for me bc the sink and disposal was 16 years old. I hated the sink design so I just replaced it all. Finally the smell is gone!

I got a new Insinkerator Evolution with Septic Assist, and I love it. It's so quiet that you can barely tell it's running. Best money I ever spent (including paying a plumber to install it). It no longer smells like a ditch in my kitchen.

Ice cubes and lemons into the GD usually cleans them up... Otherwise baking soda and vinegar works too
