Moving washer to a new location
I live in a house that was built in 1929 and I'm moving the washer from the kitchen into another area. Do I need to install a vent that runs up the wall and out the roof?

Are you moving the washer to a new loaction that has no drain now and plan on installing one? If so, I would say yes or the drain will not flow properly.

Yes, connect a 2" line with a trap at the bottom of the washer standpipe with a vent after it. You can vent it out the roof, or tie it into another vent stack if possible. If local code allows them, you might be able to install an air admittance valve in lieu of a normal vent.
If a utility sink is near the new washer location, you also could discharge the washer into that since its already trapped and vented.
Good luck!

Yes, I'm moving it to a new location that doesn't have a drain yet. Thanks for the great information.
