Iwill have NO problem moving the 1/2"copper water lines fromone end to the other,(read as I know how and can solder) my question is the drain? How much pitch do I need. There shouldn't be any issues because the laundry/hallway next to garage is directly underneath kitchen and all open. I am just unsure how much pitch I need for proper drain? And IF I am oversimplyifying this PLEASE let me know! If I over looked something or whatever! THANK YOU
My understanding is that the ideal pitch for a waste drain is 1/4" per foot. For a toilet, 1/4" per foot allows moving the solid waste down the drain properly. Too much or too little pitch can impede movement of solid waste. For a kitchen, I would also use 1/4" per foot since a garbage disposal might be installed and I would want that waste, albeit much smaller than toilet waste, to move along nicely.
A drain line for a kitchen sink should be 2" dia. graded @1/4" per ft. with a clean out installed at its upper terminal. The trap arm can be 1 1/2" and the p trap must be vented.
If you move the drain across the room, how will you vent it?
