Mortar to set acrylic tub?

I'm having an acrylic tub installed and have had most plumbers who gave me an estimate say they use Structo-Lite plaster base to set their tubs. Is this ideal? Or is more of a concrete/Mortar mix better?

Should a sheet of plastic go between the mud and the tub?

Just want to educate myself so I know if it is being done right.
