Moen faucet leak

I have contractors over right now redoing my bathroom. They've installed a Moen faucet over the sink, which I am having some trouble with.

It works just fine for normal use, but suppose I wanted to clean out some sort hose. If I put my hand up to the faucet to create a seal between the faucet and the hose I'm trying to clean (increasing the pressure of the water), water starts to pour out of the bottom of my faucet into my bathroom cupboard. Hopefully I've described it well enough that you can understand what I mean

I brought this up with the contractors, and all they gave me were some funny looks and some completely unsatisfactory answers:

One of them said: "Well, that's just the flow of water"
Ok thanks, but I want to know why the flow of water includes my cupboard!

The other said: "Well usually, you just put your hands under the water and wash them"
OK, thanks again, but I would like to be able to also use it to clean out hose-like objects like I have been able to do with every other faucet I've ever used.

So clearly, these guys are idiots and of no help to me, so I was wondering if someone here could maybe help me figure out what they did wrong, and fix it myself.

Thanks.

Moen faucet leak

I've just learned from someone else that this could be caused by not securely fastening the inlets. I'm going to try tightening them when I get a chance, and I'll post back the results. Any other suggestions are appreciated

Moen faucet leak

hi and welcome to the forum.
their first mistake was installing a faucet made in china...... can you post a pic of the faucet?
it may be as simple as a compression bushing not set on an O-ring properly, or could be a crack in the housing?

I'm pretty sure this is the one I have:

Also, water spills out of that little hole on the front as well.
