Mixer valve has no shut off is this an option?

I do not have a valve shut off on this mixing valve that I can see, thereís a constant leak that has been dripping for 5months. I believe Itís just a busted washer I need to replace. At my other house there is a screw I turn and it shuts off the water to the valve so I can take out all the pieces. Please tell me how there is some way I can shut this water off from the mixing valve or do I even have to for replacing the washer? I cannot get access to the main valve. It's locked up.

If I take out the spindle can I then put it back in with the water coming out? I'm thinking maybe I can force the pressure out the tub spout?

Don't try to fix that with the water on-----you will not succeed and turn a simple cartridge repair into a lifetime memory.

Get the water turned off----or live with the drip-----I could tell you a couple of very funny stories about situations like yours where the unit owner didn't want the association to know that they were trying to do work without hiring the plumber----

If you try to repair that without turning the water off first make sure you have somebody with a camera taking pictures. Post here when done and let us know how it worked out.
