Maytag dishwasher not completing drain cycle

I have a newer Maytag dishwasher (just over 1 year old) and it is not completing the draining cycle.

When it finishes there is still water in the bottom that has not been drained out. I can then force it to drain by pressing the drain/cancel button. The line is not clogged and the pump works great when its set to drain.

I also hear a clicking sound once and awhile. Maybe a Solenoid switch clicking on and off?

Any sugestions on what to try?

Have you pulled out the pump screen to clean it?

something could be blocking the float switch, which detects water level.
could be something got stuck in the impeller, maybe a piece of broken glass..
or possibly a kink in the drain hose (not likely but it can happen).

i had the pump screen off and it wasent all that dirty. I also pulled the drain pump off and there is nothing in there like glass or anything. i will have to check the float switch. Is that located under the pump screen, or is it located just under the lower dish basket?

hose looks good, no kinks

I have a Kitchenaid, and the float is located just under the bottom basket at the right front when the door is open. Make sure it moves up and down freely by moving it with your hand. occasionally they will get stuck by deposits forming. mine did this about a month ago and i just worked it up and down quickly with my hand about a dozen times till it didn't stick anymore. Remember, the water level is the only thing causing the float to rise and fall, so it must move up and down very freely.

float switch moves very easily.

Any other thoughts? Seems like the correct signals are not being sent. Is there a way to check to see if the control board is functioning correctly?

Are you sure that the drain hose is not partially blocked?
