I started to tear up our powder room last night (the previous owner just stuck vinyl tiles over the existing mess) and found some interesting things. First, the original hardwood is completely soaked in something vile, so we know where the smell is coming from. Second, there is a hefty piece of what looks to be marble under the toilet, with braces in the basement. I will be removing the whole bathroom to the studs, andlaying a new subfloor. My guess is to just take the marble out, along with existing floor and subfloor and level everything. The floor will be tile, so I could lay the new flange properly on it once completed. The waste drain pipe is copper. Heres a quick picture of what im working with, I'd appreciate some thoughts. Thanks!
