Main Sewer


Hi i live in Wisconsin, i have a basment and went down there past 2 days and noticed some sludge around the floor drain in the basement, i called the DPW and they checked sewer and its good, and said i probably need to have the drain in basement that leads to the sewer line cleaned, he said i could do myself how would i go about doing this, and is this better to call a plumber

you can do it yourself, its not hard, simply go to a equipment rental store and rent and auger(snake). Remove cap from drain plug in auger and thread through the line, if something is clogged in there, this will more then likely remove it.

I feel the need to comment that although an auger/power snake will clear the pipe, you need some idea how it works. I guess its one of those tools that seems harmless enough until it grabs you.

Thats true Dude, i should have mentioned the dangers of being "grabed", hopefully they come with instruction, just don't wear any loose clothing or loose gloves while working it.
