Main drain cleanout?

I have a slow branch drain that serves the kitchen sink and laundry sink that I have given up on cleaning out myself. So I have a professional heading scheduled to do it.

My questions is, should I have him do the main while he's here too even though there haven't been any problems with it? The house is a 1952 that I have owned for 2.5 years and have no idea if/when the main line was cleaned before.

Obviously it wouldn't hurt to do the main too, I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra $90 if there aren't currently any problems.

Thanks!

Negotiate a package price. See if he would camera it first for say-$150 and then if it needed cleaning you can proceed from there. A camera will tell you if you need cleaning or if something worse is coming.

the last thing you want is rust scale sitting at the bottom of your line, running a cable through a line unnecessarily can do more harm than good, have it looked at first.

Main drain cleanout?

My neighbor paid Rotor-Rooter $500. for a main drain clean out three weeks ago. I paid around $100 for the service 30 years ago. Not suggesting you do it. Merely indicating that the charge quoted seems reasonable.
