Low Hot water pressure after replacing laundry hose connection
 
I recently replaced the hot water connection for my clothes washing machine - where the hose connects to the hot water line. It connects just above the faucet on one of those old concrete tubs in the basement. The old connection was corroded and leaking. I thought I did the replacement just fine, but ever since, the hot water pressure for the entire house is lower than what it used to be.

Do I simply need to adjust the valve at the connection? Or adjust the valve on the hot water line leaving the hot water tank (I had shut this valve off while making the fix)?

Something else?

was the shut off for the tank a gate valve? They go bad all the time when you shut them off. They act just like you described your problem.

I didn't touch anything on the actual tank itself; I only turned a nozzle further down the hot water piper that controlled the water flow.

That would be where the gate valve is. Gate valves usually have a round handle that you have to rotate a number of times to get it to shut off or turn on. That would be the first thing I'd check, especially since the waterflow issue is throughout the entire house. Adjusting the boiler drain you installed for your washing machine will have no effect on the rest of the house. If turns out that the gate valve is ok I would then start looking for a blockage in the hot water piping itself...beginning right there at the connection to the water heater.

Does the new hose have a screen in it? It may have clogged, especially if you have galvanized pipes.
