loose Moen Kitchen faucet

My daughter has just bought a new house and it had a loose kitchen faucet. I do not know the model but it is a Moen single pullout style. Underneath holding the faucet it a has single threaded rod with a large U shape plastic piece which allowes the sprayer hose, hot and cold water tube to come down. The nut holding the faucet base seems to be embedded in the plastic up inside this plastic U shape assembly. I released the sprayer hose and I can get a 5/8 socket wrench up there but I can turn the nut to release. You can turn the whole U shape assembley and see the nut turning but it will not turn complete off because of hose and hot and cold hoses. HELP WHAT am I doing wrong? Thanks

I would take disconnect the supply hoses and the spray hose first then uninstall the faucet and reinstall it properly. The washer should be holding the faucet base to the sink/counter when the nut is tightened..

What about this U shape assembly. That is what is holding the faucet base to the counter top. This U shape thing is about 2-3 inches high and the nut is up inside that at the top and the nut seems to be embedded in the plastic and that is where the problem is. Does this even make sense. I am wandering if they have some how put this in upside down.

Especially part 93959

Sounds like they assembled it wrong. You do know that reading the install instructions is not usually done anymore. Good luck on disassembling the thing.

Thanks for parts diagram. I think you are right, its installed incorrectly. I know that the nut and that metal clip are not at the bottom but are at the top. I will try and get it off and see whats happening. Again thanks for info.
