longer 4" abs run - how to maintain slope?

I'm running a 4" abs pipe for about 50 feet. How does one maintain the 1/4" per 8 feet slope? Are there any methods or ways to do this easily? It's an old house built in the 1930's with additions made in the 80's and the foundations sunk in some places. So everything is a little off and improvised and maintaining distance from the joists is not an option. If I slope it a little bit more in some places what are the implications? I'm thinking about eyeballing it and allow for a gentle slope. Can this be trouble or is this fine?

They make levels that have graduated vials for 1/4" per ft. Or you can tape a shim on one end of a level.
Also, if grade is hard to get, You can run 4" pipe at 1/8" per ft.

Great idea! I have a 4' level and I can create a 1/8" shim. That should do the trick.

so the shim at the end of the 4ft level should be 1/2" which = 1/8" per ft.

In case you mis-understood TheEplumber. You'll need a 1/2" shim on your 4' level for minimum slope.

Right, 1 inch per 10 feet.
