Just bought a new tub. The old tub had a PVC drain and overflow drain. Now i'm not sure which to buy for the new tub. PVC or brass? Do I need PVC because of our extremely hard water here in Florida?

Tub and the two different drains are shown.

For a drain I would think you would be fine with a brass one.
If it was a supply line it would be differant.
A brass one is just going to cost far more.
I've never once seen a PVC tub drain fail and I've worked on many an old house.

Surprisingly, the difference is only about 10 bucks on Home Depot.com. Should I just go for the brass?

How do I connect the brass to the PVC in the ground? Do I need to cut off what is there and glue on a threaded pvc pipe and screw this baby in?
